I look at this sweet new bud and I think about the secrets it holds within. I wonder if it experiences an upheaval as it develops into a mature flower. Capturing the delicacy of this new bloom was important to me. The droplet of water could be a tear. I added a soft glow to further enhance the bud’s gentle quality. This approach was a lovely departure for me from the dramatic, dark backgrounds for which I have become known. It felt like a rebirth.
